What a Week!

Christine

This week I was looking forward to having all sorts of free time. I had the farm all to myself.

Pete went on a fishing trip with his son and grandson. Which left me on the farm tending the cows and chickens and all, by myself.

Though... I haven't managed to be particularly creative... the time just got away from me.

Checking head size...

Not that I couldn't have used a bit of creative thinking... especially when the cows opened the gate and got into the stored bales meant for this winter. I chased them around for about an hour and a half before I got them all out to pasture again. For the life of me, I tried everything I could think of, but other creative ideas eluded me.

Soaking the wheat...

That notwithstanding... since the calendar turned to October, I'm also thinking about costumes. I did find a bit of time when my friend, Cristina, asked if I had any of that wheat left over.

She wants to dress as Demeter for Halloween and wanted to find a wreath of wheat for her headdress.

Braiding the wreath...

Yes, I did. So I looked up directions.

and set about making a wheat wreath.

I can't say enough about having good directions when starting to make something you haven't made in years. I totally forgot about the soaking part. So I was glad to have the reminder.

Drying the wreath flat...

All in all, I had a good week. Pete arrived home happy and I was none the worse for wear... I happily turned the chores back over to him.

Usually, the cows make me smile...

The headdress turned out well. All the critters are alive and content.

And I'm looking forward to having a bit more time for my own pursuits. Grin
